ESG in the tourism sector is very important and should be seen as an ongoing journey and not just as a one time action. In tourism, ESG will need to focus on areas such as protecting the environment, using natural resources responsibly, respecting local culture and heritage, treating staff fairly, engaging local communities (Community Based Tourism), practicing ethical governance and offering good experiences to guests (good customer relations) while protecting tourism destinations for the future.
This is a very grounded way of looking at ESG in tourism. I like the emphasis on it being a journey rather than a one-off effort. Protecting destinations, respecting communities, and treating staff fairly are not only ethical choices, they are also essential for the long-term success of the tourism industry. Thank you Pamela.
